I purchased this groupon to surprise my wife , who has been under a lot of stress due to work and having the added weight of attending to a multitude of family matters. As it so happen, it was a surprise to me upon arrival that my wife and I were greeted by the non-receptive receptionist (rude). We had a 11 am appointment for today (3-12-2016) , we were ask to wait. The time of our arrival was 10:50 am. We entered the business at that time (early). My wife had no problem with waiting but after a half hour no one even bothered to update us on status of our appointment. The situation begged the question why even make an appointment in the first place if we are going to have to wait , with no communication and be blatantly ignored as we sat directly in front of the receptionist. I am not one to complain needlessly, but after seeing my already stressed-out wife almost cry in frustration. I will never ever ever ever refer or use this place of business in the future.
If I could give this salon zero stars I would!
Set for a Saturday afternoon. When I got there, no one was at the desk. Plenty of people moving around in the open area where the work is done. I stood there for several minutes and when no one showed up to check me in, AND not a single person working in the open area acknowledged that a customer was standing at the desk, or said someone would be with me in a minute, I started to get a bad feeling. So, I set the timer on my cell to 5 minutes.
I just moved to the Pikesville, MD area in March and finally got the courage to look for a hair salon in July. I found Paradise Salon on google search and went on their website. Their prices were reasonable, so I booked an appointment to get my hair cut. I got a "lob" or a long bob. All was fine and it looked good but then I noticed that my hair cut was uneven. Like a whole half inch uneven. One side was longer than the other. In addition, I asked for my hair to be thinned out, since my hair is so thick naturally PLUS me being pregnant right now and having to take pre-natals, my hair is super thick. He never did it. I now have to go to About Faces and spend another $55 to get it fixed. Should of went to About Faces in the first place.
The time before I set my timer, the 5 minutes of the timer, and the 2 - 3 minutes to write the note was about 10 minutes. It does not sound long, but try standing there waiting for someone to acknowledge you're even there, particularly when you came in to chill out.
Upon scheduling the appointment, the receptionist did not seem eager to book the appointment with a Groupon customer.
The stylist, G-Han, was horrendous. He did not talk to me unless he was giving directions. He also insisted, quite unapologetically, that the service would require $25 more than the paid value of the voucher, or else I "can get the voucher refunded."
When it went off, I picked up one of their business cards and on the back wrote that I had waited 5 minutes and no one had said a word to me, so I was cancelling the appointment and leaving.
I booked a last minute appointment for a much needed pedicure. I was scheduled with Xena. I had the Chocolate Spa pedicure. Xena offered me tea and chocolates to snack on. She was very friendly and attentive. She did a great job prepping my nails, completing the exfoliation and massage as well as the polish. All of the staff members I encountered were polite and the massage chairs are magnificent! I will be coming back.
Today is Thursday and no one ever cared enough to even call to find out what happened, give an explanation, or to apologize. Today, I also called LivingSocial, who kindly gave me back my money. That's good customer service!
G-Han did not listen to how I wanted my haircut (he cut it too short), nor the color of the highlights (it turned out brassy, even after I'd asked him to tone it because I had dark hair).
Where do I start? Bought the LivingSocial coupon. Bad / sad things going on in my life for the last 6 months or so, so treated myself to what I thought would be a relaxing 1 hour reflexology appointment.
I would not recommend this salon to anyone.
The place looked a little run down, but that may not have mattered had I had a chance to experience what the people were like or how good or bad the reflexology was.
